Nigel Smith and his co-founder Charlotte undertake the majority of the client contact, and delivery of services. We also work with a number of practitioners and associates in the corporate responsibility and sustainability arena to deliver a wide-range of projects. In particular we have recently welcomed Stuart Poore, to our associate Team. Previously, Stuart spent 4 years as Director of Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability at Virgin Media where he oversaw the company's management of its social and environmental impact.
About Nigel
Nigel has eight years CR experience; and a total of 15 years working in the wider sustainability field. Before starting Corporate Balance, he was Head of Corporate Responsibility Advisory at KPMG. He left to further his ambition of setting-up his own consultancy, and Corporate Balance was created.
As a consultant, he has worked with a wide variety of organisations in both the public and private sector, providing both strategic CR advice and issue specific sustainability support.
He also spent five years as Corporate Responsibility Policy Director at the British Retail Consortium (BRC); working closely with the retail sector to provide strategic CR support and policy advice.
About Stuart
Dr Stuart Poore is an Associate Director at Corporate Balance and specialises in helping businesses respond to the challenge of sustainable development. Previously, Stuart spent 4 years as Director of Corporate Responsibility and Sustainability at Virgin Media where he oversaw the company's management of its social and environmental impact.
Under Stuart's leadership, Virgin Media developed a distinctive focus on helping people lead sustainable digital lifestyles and an innovative approach to communication and engagement using digital entertainment. Prior to Virgin, he led Corporate Responsibility at the QinetiQ Group, a leading defence technology and security company. This followed a successful spell at WWF-UK where he worked in Public Affairs.
He has a doctorate in International Politics and has served as a member of the Board of the Corporate Responsibility Group (CRG).
About Charlotte
Charlotte has been working in the sustainability sector for 11 years, and most recently spent five years as Project Director and Head of Environmental Communications for a small CSR & Social Marketing Agency. During this time she managed projects which promoted pro-environmental behaviours for public sector clients including the Energy Savings Trust, WRAP and several local authorities.
She is a qualified PRINCE2 practitioner, and holds a Masters degree in environmental policy, law and engineering.
Charlotte's key skill is in the communications and stakeholder engagement side of CR having successfully helped a number of organisations to gain reputational benefit from their activities in this area.
